From the Desk of MAF’s President:
A Rewarding Season

05/25/2022

Finally, after a winter that has seemed to linger on for way too long, we are hopeful that summer is just around the corner.  Here at the Michigan Architectural Foundation, our committees have been working extremely hard and we are already well into another active and accomplished. year.

Earlier this week, I attended our annual MAF ‘Fore a Great Cause’ Golf Outing at Western Golf and Country Club in Redford, which featured the first of two MAF Auction for Education events this summer.  I will confess, it was my first time attending, but what a fun event!  We are extremely grateful for the 100-plus golfers and generous sponsors who supported this event and helped raise money for our programs, grants, and scholarships.  We’ll have a full story on the outing in our MAF June newsletter.

This month, we have lots of exciting news, including the announcement of MAF’s 2022 Scholarship winners and 2022 Evans Graham Preservation Award.  Please take a look at the articles in this newsletter to read more about these deserving recipients.  We are also very excited to launch our second annual MAF ‘Architecture Inspires’ Photo Contest.  With a touch of modesty, we are very proud to incorporate and display the images from our last year’s photo contest on the MAF website and in our overall communications efforts.  The photos captured by our inaugural contest entrants truly embody MAFs mission and what we are passionate about.

Moving ahead, we look forward to our upcoming events like the second MAF Auction for Education at the Mid-Summer Conference and the Banicki and the Grand Rapids Scholarship fundraising events in the fall.  Please continue to follow us through our newsletters and our social media platforms for more information on these and other MAF events, programs, and initiatives. We welcome your input and look forward to hearing how architecture has enriched your life.
