Be Part of Michigan’s
Architectural Future:
Consider Making a Donation
During MAF’s
Annual Fund Campaign

12/26/2023

For more than 50 years, and through the support of generous donors, the Michigan Architectural Foundation has been able to expand the programs that creatively connect people and architecture.

During November and December, MAF will conduct its Annual Fund Campaign, a drive to increase year-end contributions to support MAF’s grants and endowment funds.

“MAF has been blessed with contributions throughout 2023, and we are currently on track for having our biggest year for donations,” said Tom Mathison, FAIA, MAF Development Committee chair.  “Every donation has helped make a difference, and due to the generosity of MAF’s donors, we will be able to look at expanding the reach and beneficiaries of MAF grants and programs in 2024 and beyond.”

Tom continues, “As we close out the year, we want to encourage grassroots donations of any amount. Every donor, regardless of the amount of their gift, plays in important role in making the lives of Michigan residents better through architecture.”

MAF grants and programs that benefit from donor contributions include MAF’s Evans Graham Historic Preservation Award (find out more about the grant and 2023 awardee, the Blue Bird Inn); MAF’s Scholarship Program (for college and university architecture students); MAF Damian Farrell Architecture Awareness Grants; MAF Education Awareness grants; and educational programming for K-12 students that is designed to pique the curiosity and interest of young people in the built environment.”

Adds Doug Kueffner, AIA, MAF 2022-2023 President, “MAF is an entirely volunteer-led organization, comprised of individuals and committees that are passionate about MAF’s mission of increasing awareness of how architecture enriches life. This allows for 100% of donations to be invested directly into programs or endowments, not in overhead or administrative costs.”

In addition to MAF’s Annual Fund campaign and other fundraising activities such as the MAF Auction for Education (held as two annual events, in May and August) and the MAF John and Katherine Banicki Scholarship Fundraiser, MAF accepts donations on a rolling basis via the donor portal on the MAF website.
