MAF is pleased to announce the 2025 recipients of its Education Awareness Grants. The MAF Education Awareness Grants provide support to projects and programs that engage and promote awareness and education of K-12 students in Michigan. The grants help to encourage the education on architecture and the benefit to society. To be considered, all projects must align with MAF’s mission of advancing awareness of how architecture enriches life.
MAF’s 2025 Education Awareness Grantees:
The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (Birmingham, MI)
The funds from the grant will go towards continuing their “Art + Architecture” program. This program helps to provide students in grades 6-8 with access to both art and architecture through youth art camps. Students will be provided with semester-long programs and additional design and structure driven art classes. There will also be dedicated sessions for students from Detroit Middle School.
Glen Arbor Arts Center (Glen Arbor, MI)
The grant will help to provide support for art kits, teaching fees, and a student art exhibition for “Youth Plein Air Month” in July. Students will experience the intersection of art, architecture, and nature. The event will provide 50 students from Benzie, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau counties the opportunity to participate. Students will have the opportunity to explore Norther Michigan’s unique and rural architecture.
NOMA (National Association of Minority Architects) “Project Pipeline” (Detroit and Kalamazoo, MI)
The funds from the grant will aid 60-70 underserved students through the Project Pipeline camps in Detroit and Kalamazoo in July. Students from Metro Detroit, Southwest Michigan, and Kalamazoo (ages 12-18) will be able to explore the profession of architecture, free of charge.
MAF Education Awareness Grant awards up to $15,000 are available to a single recipient or multiple recipients throughout Michigan each year.
