There is demand for architects and individuals that are passionate about architecture and sustainability. If you are considering architecture as a career, Michigan has five schools of architecture in Michigan recognized by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) offering professional degree programs that formally train students to enter careers as licensed architects. You will find a list of them in this section. The American Institute of Architects – Michigan can connect you with practicing architects that will mentor and guide you if you wish.

Students who want to become licensed architects in Michigan must have a degree from a program that is recognized by NAAB or has passed NAAB evaluation. Candidates must also complete three years of work experience as part of an internship and pass a professional registration exam (PRE).

Please be aware that other colleges and universities in Michigan offer architecture programs but they are not recognized by NAAB.
