Educating the Next Generation:
MAF Announces its 2024 Education Awareness Grant Recipients

05/30/2024

MAF is pleased to announce the 2024 recipients of its Education Awareness Grants.

The Grants support projects and programs that reach out, engage, and promote awareness and education of K-12 students in Michigan as advocates of architecture and its benefit to society.  Each project must align with MAF’s mission of advancing awareness of how architecture enriches life.

MAF’s 2024 Education Awareness Grantees (and their projects):

  • The ACE Mentor Program of West Michigan (Grand Rapids, MI): to support its program for mentoring students in West Michigan in architecture, engineering, and construction.
  • The Baldwin Public Library (Birmingham, MI): for materials for STEAM Night programs in local schools.
  • The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (Birmingham, MI): to provide instruction and supplies for a Detroit middle school program, and support for a semester-long Art + Architecture program at another school.
  • AIA Michigan BUILDITREADIT Collaborative (MI statewide): to support design project/mentoring programs at five high schools in Michigan.
  • NOMA (National Association of Minority Architects) “Project Pipeline” (Detroit and Kalamazoo, MI):  to conduct free summer camps for students to engage in architecture and design activities.

Each year, MAF Education Awareness Grant awards up to $15,000 are available to a single recipient or multiple recipients throughout the State of Michigan.  Grants are awarded once annually; applicants must be 501c3 organizations. Applications close April 1 of the award year.
