MAF is pleased to announce it has awarded its first Fellows Fund for Equity Grant to Anne Doornbos, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. Anne is a Project Architect for Tower Pinkster in Grand Rapids.
The Fellows Fund for Equity (F2E) is a grant for newly licensed Black, Hispanic, Native American, female (and other individuals from underrepresented groups) architects who are actively practicing architecture. The grant is intended to help reduce their remaining student debt and/or as reimbursement for expenses associated with the licensing exams, while at the same time, awarding performance, creativity and perseverance, and creating a more diverse population of practicing architects. The grant is sponsored by the AIA Michigan College of Fellows.
Anne is very active with the AIA Grand Rapids Chapter and will be AIA Grand Rapids Chapter president in 2025. She also created “Thrive”, a mentoring program sponsored by the AIA Grand Rapids chapter. A MAF scholarship award recipient in 2015, Anne has also worked to help raise funds for the two AIA Grand Rapids Scholarship administered by MAF. In addition, she is active in other volunteer activities around the Grand Rapids area.
In addition to monetary assistance, the grant includes mentorship with a state of Michigan-based member of the AIA College of Fellows.
Award applications and materials are due via email by September 15 of the award year.
