On November 17, 2022, MAF friends and supporters came together at the historic Detroit Athletic Club to celebrate the annual Banicki Bacchus Bash, a MAF special event honoring long-time MAF supporters Kathy and John Banicki. Proceeds of the fundraising event, which brings together relationships and wonderful architecture, and celebrates Italian culture and the Roman God of wine, Bacchus, benefit MAF’s John and Katherine Banicki Scholarship Fund, which provides an annual scholarship to a deserving architecture student. Over $12,000 was raised at this year’s event.

Seventy-eight attendees enjoyed an Italian themed wine tasting event held in two Detroit Athletic Club venues, the Reading Room and the Pontchartrain Room. The DAC’s Sommelier David Brown and Chef Loving presented an impressive selection of fine wines and delicious culinary surprises for guests at this year’s sold-out event. This was the third year of the event being held at the Detroit Athletic Club.
“What a fantastic evening, all planned by the MAF Banicki Scholarship Fund Committee,” said Kathy Banicki, MAF Banicki Scholarship Fund Committee member. “So many good friends, good wine, and excellent food, and of course, the auction was fun too. We all had a wonderful time, and for such a worthy cause – supporting student’s dreams. Happy Holidays to all.”
Sponsors for this year’s event included Rewold Construction, Barton Malow, TEC, SmithGroup, Damian Farrell Design Group, and Christman Company.
MAF would like to extend a special thanks to this year’s event sponsors, as well as the MAF Banicki Scholarship Fund Committee: Kathy Banicki, Rae Dumke, Chuck Lewis, Cathy Mosley, Mike Neville, Cindy Pozolo, and Criag Wolanin.
