Bidding ‘Fore’ a Great Cause!
MAF Kicks off 2022 Auction for Education at Annual Golf Event

07/29/2022

Thanks to our generous donors (and bidders), the first of MAF’s two Auction for Education annual fundraising events was a tremendous success! The first auction was held at MAF’s ‘Fore a Great Cause’ golf outing this Spring (see the article on the event elsewhere in this newsletter), and the second auction is fast approaching and will be held during the AIA Michigan / AGC Michigan Midsummer Conference at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island (August 4-6).  As in past years, a variety of unique trips, golf packages, sporting event tickets, artwork, dining certificates and the ever-popular selection of quality wines were offered for bid.

MAF’s Auction for Education helps provide financial support for MAF’s architecture-based K-12 educational resources, including ‘Architecture: it’s Elementary’ and ‘ArchiTreks’, which creatively engage children through hands-on activities and videos, as well as an educational curriculum. It also benefits MAF’s Architecture Awareness Grants, which help fund architecture-related programming that enriches Michigan communities and its residents. The grants have supported lectures, books, films, events, design competitions, and educational programs, including NOMA (National Association of Minority Architects) Detroit’s Project Pipeline Camps, created to help expose minority and under-represented high school students throughout Michigan to careers in architecture.

It’s not too late to donate an item for MAF’s second Auction for Education event this summer. Please contact MAF Auction Committee Chair Chuck Lewis at 248-214-6493 or by email: clewis@nullids-michigan.com. If you are attending this year’s Mid-Summer Conference, be sure to bid on one or more great items!
