All A-Board!  MAF Welcomes New and Returning Trustees

02/04/2025

MAF is pleased to welcome two new and two returning trustees to the MAF board, effective January 2025. Each will serve a two-year term.

Rae Dumke, Hon. AIA: Rae is the retired former Executive Director of AIA Michigan. Rae is returning to the MAF board after being required to step away for one year, after serving three consecutive two-year terms. Through the Dumke Fund (which Rae chairs), she established two book collections: Build Imagination (for children), 100 Essential Architecture Books (teens/adults), both in partnership with Birmingham’s Baldwin Library; and the Build Imagination architectural maker kits program for children. In 2020, Rae received MAF’s Leadership Award.

Gene Hopkins, FAIA: Gene is Principal of Hopkins Burns Design Studio. Gene is also returning to the MAF board after being required to step away for one year, after serving three consecutive two-year terms.  A long-time board member and an active MAF committee participant since 1989, Gene currently serves on MAF’s Historic Preservation and Scholarship committees, and the Evans Graham Preservation Award Jury. He also served as 2014-2015 MAF President.

Christopher D. Kassab, CPA: Chris is a CPA with Plante Moran, PLLC who specializes in providing financial services to professional service firms, with a focus on architecture and engineering firms. His early career experience working with A&E firms sparked his interest in architecture.  His volunteer work includes the City of Detroit Alley Clean Up Program.

Chuck Sidor: Chuck is a retired Regional Sales Manager for Centria, an insulated metal panel systems company. His MAF volunteer activities include running the putting contest for MAF’s ‘Fore a Great Cause’ golf outing; recruiting donors for MAF’s Auction for Education; and serving on the MAF Development Committee.
