Wine Culture of Burgundy fundraiser brings together wine and Banicki passion

A great space, wonderful wine and Banicki passion make it memorable

Combine the architecture of the Detroit Athletic Club Pontchartrain Room, the fine wine and gourmet cuisine of Burgundy, the passion of the Banicki family, and you have the recipe for a uniquely wonderful cultural experience.

Seventy-five of Katherine and John Banicki’s friends attended the Wine Culture of Burgundy event on November 20th to support the Banicki’s newly formed scholarship endowment. Pram and Suzanne Acharya of Esperance in Charlevoix hosted the event featuring champagne, six Burgundy wine selections and six food pairings, all carefully orchestrated to create a unique cultural experience. Attendees were educated on what specifically makes the wine culture of the French Burgundy region so world-class. VIP table attendees were treated to a tour of the DAC art collection and the 1915 historic Albert Kahn-designed building.

Next year’s fundraiser, the second wine education event in a series of three, will be held in November of 2020.

The Katherine and John Banicki Scholarship is given to Michigan architectural students attending Michigan universities. The endowment goal is $50,000. If you would like to contribute, please visit the Donor section of our website here to make your contribution.
