MAF’s beloved Fore a Great Cause annual golf outing once again brought the architecture and design community together for a day of impact and camaraderie. Held on May 19, 2025, at the beautiful Plum Hollow Golf Club in Southfield, the sold-out event hosted 132 golfers and raised more than $33,000 in support of MAF’s architecture student scholarships, educational initiatives, and awareness grant programs.
“The commitment of our volunteers and committee leadership is the foundation of this outing’s success,” said Brandon Kinsey, MAF Golf Outing Co-Chair. “Their energy, ideas, and unwavering focus on delivering a holistic and impactful experience continue to raise the bar each year. We’re proud to unite the AEC industry around a cause that advances architecture and improves lives.”
The 2025 outing featured MAF’s signature 9-hole scramble format, along with a putting contest, lunch, awards, and an Afterglow Reception open to golfers and guests alike. Unique sponsorship opportunities included teeing off with Honorary Captains from the AEC industry; this year featured Peter McGrath (Managing Director, Savills North America), Larry Marantette (Owner, TAKTIX Solutions), Stephan Barlow (Director of Business Development, Ideal Contracting) and Brian Mullen (Capital Project Delivery–Senior PM, Michigan State University).
The Auction for Education kicked off its first of two annual events at the outing, featuring coveted items such as Detroit Tigers and Lions tickets, and a Crystal Mountain ‘Stay and Play’ package. An additional $2,850 was raised through the outing’s Auction for Education.
MAF extends its deepest appreciation to the 2025 outing sponsors, including Tournament Sponsor Plante Moran, and Bill Dunn of ARC for donating all event signage. Special thanks to our incredible volunteers, including Kim Montague, Chuck Sidor, and the IDS staff, whose efforts made the day seamless and memorable.
The event was made possible through the leadership of Co-Chairs Brandon Kinsey and Kevin Shultis, AIA, and Golf Committee members Todd Drouillard, Kelli Herman, Chris Kassab, Bill Dunn, Mike Neville, and Carl Roehling.
