Introducing Four New MAF Scholarships for 2026

MAF is excited to introduce four new architecture student scholarships for 2026, including two undergraduate and two graduate scholarships. With the addition of the new scholarships, there will be a total of 16 scholarships and a total $57,500 will be awarded to students.

The new scholarships are:

AIA DETROIT UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

$2,500 will be awarded to a student who embodies the mission of AIA Detroit and exhibits academic achievement, community leadership and financial need. Preference will be given to residents of the AIA Detroit Chapter region or attending a school in the chapter. Student should self-identify as an underrepresented person in the profession such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and/or be a woman. Award includes $500 from AIA National component matching grant.

AIA DETROIT GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

$4,500 will be awarded to a student who embodies the mission of AIA Detroit and exhibits academic achievements, community leadership and financial need. Preference will be given to residents of the AIA Detroit region or attending a school in the chapter. Student should self-identify as an underrepresented person in the profession such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or be a woman. Award includes $500 from AIA National component matching grant.

“AIA Detroit is excited to continue offering scholarships to support and foster a diverse profession that is representative of our greater Chapter community,” said 2026 AIA Detroit President Andrew Stone AIA, NCARB. “By coordinating with MAF, we hope to expand the reach of the scholarships to more students and streamline the application process to reduce roadblocks toward receiving scholarships. In conjunction with a $1,000 matching grant from AIA National, we are thrilled to offer a $2,500 and a $4,500 scholarship this year, along with the ever-growing list of scholarships managed by MAF.”

ROSSETTI LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP

$2,000 will be awarded to a University of Michigan, University of Detroit Mercy or Lawrence Technological University student pursuing a graduate professional degree in architecture. Strong preference shall be given to a student who demonstrates a commitment to design excellence, creative inquiry, and design as a critical component of their architectural education and future professional contributions.

“Rooted in Detroit with a global impact in sports architecture and planning, four generations of our work has been guided by the belief that design shapes culture, community, and the human experience,” added Rossetti Chairman David B Richards, FAIA. “The Rossetti Legacy Scholarship honors that heritage by investing in the next generation of architects who will carry those ideals forward and shape the future generations to come.”

HAUSMAN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

$2,000 will be awarded to an undergraduate student studying architecture. Strong preference shall be given to a student who demonstrates a commitment to obtaining their architectural license, practicing in the State of Michigan, enhancing architecture through design excellence and sustainability, and giving back to the profession.

“Janice and I are thrilled to be able to establish the Hausman Family Scholarship to support the next generation of architects,” said Jeff Hausman, FAIA. “We look forward to watching these scholarship winners as they embark on their journey to become licensed architects who are committed to designing architecture in Michigan that enhances the quality of the built environment through creating design excellence and sustainable practices.  We trust that once they get started in their career, they too will give back to the profession in meaningful ways.”
