Join MAF for an Exclusive Chocolate Making Class Nov. 21
Have you always wanted to learn to make gourmet chocolate treats? Have a weakness for chocolate, or want to impress your friends and family and spoil them with delicious candies for the holidays?
Join MAF for an exclusive chocolate making class from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 21, with architect/attorney/chef Frederick F. Butters, Esq. The class will be held at the Professional Concepts Insurance Agency (PCIA) offices, 1127 S Old US Hwy 23, Brighton, MI 48114. Cost is $100 per participant. Class participants must pre-register.
Learn to make fabulous concoctions, enjoy samples, and take home detailed recipes and knowledge. All proceeds benefit MAF’s K-12 educational programs for kids, including MAF’s ‘Architecture: it’s Elementary!’ and ArchiTreks programs.
“Making chocolates is largely a matter of technique,” said Fred. “Unfortunately, it can also be challenging given that heat and sugar, unless carefully balanced, often don’t play well together. Class participants will learn basic techniques and how to overcome common problems associated with making chocolates.”
In addition to chocolate making techniques, class participants will learn to make:
· A variety of centers for chocolate candies (including coconut, peanut butter, peppermint)
· Chocolate coating for dipping a variety of culinary treats
Fred has studied with a number of accomplished local chefs, including Certified Master Chef Jeffrey Gabriel, Certified Master Pastry Chef Joseph Decker, Certified Executive Chef / Certified Executive Pastry Chef Marcus Haight, and Brian Polcyn of the Five Lakes Grill and more recently the Forest Grill. An accomplished chef and instructor, Fred brings a wealth of experience to this class.
